Verdigris
Turn me green like that
Verdigris
Easy to forget
the Statue of Liberty was once a
shining copper, a twinkling brown
that rippled the sun’s light from
flame tip to draped silk to bare toe.
We don’t survive this long without
impact. We don’t survive unaffected
by the salty air blooming its green
tarnish one lesion at a time. Turn me
green like that. Let me bear the marks
of having truly lived. Let the whole of
me alchemize from pure earth, soiled
with verdant beauty by the invisible
sustenance floating all around.

☁️ In Praise Of: Clouds - Saturday May 16, 10am - 12pm MST. Register here.
A contemplative poetry gathering tuned towards awe and praise. Clouds have been inspiring poets since the dawn of awareness. They are ethereal to write about and to paint. Undefinable on paper as they are in the sky. Let’s explore the mystery and beauty of clouds and all they have to teach us. This event is donation based, accessible to anyone curious enough to join. Read the poem In Praise of Clouds.
📝 8-Week River Writing beginning Tuesday, May 26, 4 - 6pm MST. Register here

Wow... I never thought of the Statue of Liberty in her original copper form. I so love the lines:
"...Turn me
green like that. Let me bear the marks
of having truly lived. "
Oh, yes! I want that, too!
Incredible, Moudi!
