I once wore green fatigues too! Wasn't halloween so much fun as a kid? And it still is.

ah Habibi, so sad that you had to live through all those efforts to make you other than you are when you were young. Lucky for us you learned to throw that fisted tongue :) xoxo

Thank you Janice. It is sad that many young kiddos aren’t given space to express themselves. Though, as I write in the memoir, I don't see these experiences as sad personally (but I will say, I am not anti-sadness, I love the melancholy I get to carry with me). Somehow along the path I’ve come to love all these hardships as necessary in helping me grow the fisted tongue, and the soft heart, and all other qualities I feel lucky to know. This is the beauty of hardship, that it can, and often does, shape us into our most true selves <3
